"INTO THE DESERT" (Everyone Gets Their Just Desserts) is an unusual gallery show — to say the least., an installation by artist REPHAEL EPSTEIN, will consist of 1,200 square feet of matzah that will cover the walls of the iMPeRFeCT Gallery. The floor will be covered with sand, and cloud and fire pillar representations will complete the effect. The show will run from MAR. 21 through APR. 11, 2015
And the purpose of this assemblage? “Just something to put a smile on people’s face,” said Epstein. “Inspire curiosity, wonder, laughs.” The timing, too, is fortuitous, near the end of the Passover holiday.
Epstein’s career includes a Henry Walters Museum Travel fellowship, a stint as a visiting lecturer at Wimbleton College of Art in London, receiving a first place award for an outdoor sculpture at Three Rivers Art Festival, and a first place jurors award by the Pittsburgh Society of Sculptors.
