The Philadelphia Car Show

"The Philadelphia Car Show" is part of an ongoing project that attempts to document the history, current state and role of classic cars, clubs and garages within different areas of the city using 35mm and medium format film photography. In the abstract these clubs and garages serve as primary examples of economic sovereignty in cities all over the country. Each unique in their organization, operation and services. They also act as spaces for skill sharing, mentoring/apprenticeship and intergenerational storytelling.  sheldonomarabba.com

anonymity in the GReaT GLaSS eLeVaToR

“Street photography is a compulsion for me. I find a certain comfort in the anonymity of the street and camera, in illuminating the quiet absurdities of existence. I try to capture these fleeting moments as they appear to me. It is my ritual tied to a photographic tradition - images made on the street with a mechanical 35mm camera presented as full frame black and white silver gelatin prints.“  MK

Make Pottery Gay Again in THe ReDRooM

“I grew up in a conservative small town where hunting, fishing, and team sports were the predominant masculine activities and the social messaging around gender identity, religion and sexuality were at odds with my personal values. I learned to view the objects we use and the domestic environments that we live in as representations of a negative status quo. By making artwork that cheerfully transgresses what ‘good’ objects and environments are supposed to be, I build ‘bad’ art as a nuanced critique of a society that I find oppressive and in poor taste.”   BP
